The word "church" has come to mean something different. To many, a building, to others, a service, a Sunday morning routine. The actual scripture's word is closer to "assembly." It is a gathering, where people gather for fellowship, the called out and called together. We use the word Assembly on purpose at Assembly of the Acts. It is a standing correction to the idea that church is something you attend or go to, but rather something you live out, something you express. In the Book of Acts, it was something you were.

What the Pattern Actually Requires

This is not nostalgia for the first century or early disciples. For us, It is obedience to who we are; the called out ones expressing the life of Christ together.

Plurality of elders. No single individual was "the pastor" of a gathering in the early church. Elders led together, each recognizing their calling and function among each other. Together, they carried the weight of the flock as a body (Acts 14:23, 1 Peter 5:1-2). We hold to that, and to the spiritual accountability among recognized leaders, not centralized in one voice.

A participatory gathering. When the church came together, it was not one man talking and everyone else listening. Paul said, "Ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted" (1 Corinthians 14:31). Teaching happens. So does contribution. The body speaks, not just the platform.

The gifts still operate. We do not treat 1 Corinthians 12 through 14 as history. Tongues, prophecy, healing, the word of knowledge, these did not expire with the apostles. We contend for the Spirit to move as He moved then, tested by Scripture and weighed by elders, but not shut down by tradition. Since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Word governs everything. Every practice here answers to Scripture first. Not preference, not culture, not what draws a crowd.
